Cody the Robot

'Cody the Robot' is an original narrative, set in a world I had slowly been designing and developing over some time now. It is an ongoing project and one that I wish to continue to develop as I continue to create new chapters exploring the world and the characters within.

The theme of the first chapter is that of potential; the idea that we all have the ability to be more than what others or even ourselves may think is possible. And sometimes, we only need someone else to acknowledge that and gives us the encouragement and support to try. I wanted to dedicate this chapter to everyone who encouraged me to pursue my dreams of art and continued to support and believe in me and my work even when I couldn't see it.

VERAN:

Servants of the Faithful

'Veran: Servants of the Faithful' was a collaboration project between myself and Kerry Ticlo, a fellow art student and emerging artist, in which we aspired to create an original fantasy-based narrative designed tabletop roleplaying games (e.g. Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, ect). The idea was that our narrative could be adapted and integrated into any fantasy role  game for players to use within their own campaign.

Our objective with this project was to not only appeal to those who already enjoy these types of games, but also try to encourage others to try as well and make it feel more accessible and intriguing. One way we sought to do this was to create a trailer in such a way that it would draw in new audiences who may want to explore new ways of telling stories - Tabletop roleplaying games have been proven to be an excellent way of not only telling unique stories, but also improving social skills, as well as improvisational skills.

Define 'Activism'

Activism storyboard.jpg

During my study year abroad, studying animation in Portugal, I took part in several collaborative group animation projects. As a Final project, we worked in teams of 5 to create a short 1-2 minute animation focusing on a given word; our word was 'Activism'.

For the project, I was the Art Director as well as the lead Storyboard Artist for the animation. I also contributed to sound design and production.

We struggled at the start to decide on a narrative for the animation as we didn't want to focus to be on any current or ongoing social or political issues as to do so would have distracted from the actual concept of activism and have stolen the spotlight away, turning it into campaigning video instead .

I came up with the idea of dedicating it the the actual definition of the word and trying to redefine it to the public. Most people when picturing activism think of campaigning and protesting. However, it is not enough to just protest about something. Activism means being active in issues you care about and working with others to change things for the better. It's about not only highlighting issues and protesting for change but also thinking of solutions and being an active part of that change.
